Wiregrass Medical Center Visitation Policy
COVID HOSPITAL VISTATION POLICY
Effective September 10, 2021
The hospital visitation has been revised based on the COVID-19 spread in Geneva County. The following visitation policy now applies:
Outpatient & Emergency Room Patients: Limited to 1 visitor/caregiver.
Inpatient Patients: No visitors are permitted at this time. Based on the presence of certain factors (outlined below (i), (ii) and (iii), visitors to Wiregrass Medical Center are limited to end-of-life/compassionate care situations and 1 Caregiver.
A Caregiver is a person whose role includes the facilitation of the care and wellbeing of the patient. A Caregiver may include:
a parent or caretaker of a minor child;
a caretaker for an elderly person or a person with a disability;
another person who facilitates appropriate care for the patient.
These examples are not meant to be exhaustive. WMC staff should focus on the person's ability to facilitate appropriate care for the patient.
(i) Prevalence of COVID in the community
10% or greater rate of positive test results in Geneva County (14-day average);
Seven (7) days of increasing COVID-19 positive test results in Geneva County;
Presence of widespread community transmission, as reported by the ADPH.
(ii) Prevalence of COVID in the facility
Six or greater COVID-19 positive inpatients per day (on average) in the previous week;
Seven days of increasing Hospital admissions for COVID-19 leading up to the date of measurement.
(iii) Staffing levels
10% or more of staff infected with COVID-19 or otherwise quarantined and unavailable for work;
20% or more of staff infected with COVID-19 or otherwise quarantined and unavailable for work in specific units (e.g., ICU, ER, etc.).
